Three times in the points
Patric Muff looked forward to the meeting in Oulton Park which took place last weekend, as he likes the track a lot. He was in every session at least in the Top-15 and could gain in all three races the well deserved points. Also he secured with an 8th place in the first race on Monday his best ever BSB finish so far: "8th in the free practices, 15th in qualifying, 11th in Warm-up, 12th, 8th and 14th in the races is a good balance of the weekend. I feel more and more comfortable with the bike and we made a big step with the setting of the bike. The Supersonic Team was working hard to be where we are and now we need to build up on this at Snetterton." [For more details and pictures see German version]

Unsatisfied results, but gained a lot of self-confidence
All in all it was a weekend with lots of highlights, two top ten starting places on the grid and promising races but at the end with no points for the Swiss rider Patric Muff, who fighted hard to gain his first points for the team. "Today was a difficult day. Unfortunately we chose the wrong tyres for the first race, as after 10th position on the grid and really good first laps, where I was in 6th position, my tyre got completely ripped off and it was frustrating to fall out of the points on 16th place. For the second race, being positioned 9th on the grid, I also had a great start and stayed a long time among the top ten. Due to some electronic problems and grip problems, unfortunately at the end I finished as 18th. Nevertheless we did have some highlights this weekend. I gained a lot of self-confidence, as I know now, that I can ride with the top guys. We just need to find the right setup, that the tyres will last over a race distance. I'm looking forward to the next race in Oulton Park - a track I enjoy a lot. Last but not least I want to thank my crew and the whole Supersonic team, who have all done a great job." Ups and downs at the opening round in Brands Hatch
After only a little bit more than one day testing, we used the free practices for the base setup of the Supersonic BMW. Neverthless we could make fast progress during each session and could close the gap to the other teams soon. The highlight was the first qualifying, where Patric could reach fourth place overall. Unfortunately the rain setup wasn't very good and so he ended up on 17th place on the grid. Unfortunately the race day wasn't very statisfied: "After a good weekend the luck didn't want to be with me when Michael Laverty crashed in the first lap just in front of me and took me out. Luckily the bike wasn't damaged too much and the team worked hard to get everything ready for the second race - which then was cancelled in the end. All in all it was a good first weekend and I am looking forward to Thruxton where we can build on what we achieved this weekend. A big thank you to James, Lee, John and the rest of the team for the good work throughout the weekend and a special thanks to Danilo for providing me with this great bike and team in which I do see a lot of potential and for sure the strength to compete at the front." The second race has been postponed following track contamination at the circuit. [For more details and pictures see German version]

Patric Muff with Ex-WSBK-Team Supersonic Racing in BSB
The deal for England is perfect: Patric Muff will start on a BMW alongside Anthony West for the Ex-WSBK-Team Supersonic Racing in this years BSB series. "After my podiums and fourth place in BSB Evo last year, this season I had a single goal and that was to be back on the grid. After conversations with different teams, Danilo Soncini of Supersonic Racing offered me the chance to ride in his team. I'm so happy because they have a strong technical background with the official support from BMW Motorrad Italia. I am totally aware of what a big opportunity this is for me and I'll do my best to achieve the results. It certainly will not be easy with the entry of riders like my team-mate Anthony West and Noriyuki Haga, the level of competition this year has certainly increased. However, I can't wait to sit on my new bike for the first time!"

Exciting season finale in Brands Hatch
Tyco Security Products Honda rider Patric Muff finished fourth in the BSB Evo championship in his rookie season of racing in the British series. Muff had the best weekend of his year, finishing third in Sunday’s first race and fourth in the other two races of the triple-header meeting at Brands Hatch that concluded the series. The highlight of Sunday’s first race, which was held in very testing damp conditions with a very narrow dry racing line, was also finishing 11th overall among the fully-tuned BSB bikes – his best finish all year. Patric said: “I’m happy with this weekend. We had already raced on the Brands GP circuit so we had a good base setting with the bike to start the weekend and I felt confident we could do some good races. It was a shame that the tyre spun on the rim towards the end of the last race and I had all sorts of problems with tyre vibration and a lack of grip. Neverthless all in all I'm very happy with my first BSB season. Top-5 in the EVO class was our goal and with my fourth place in the championship I achieved this. At this place, I want to say thank you to Ian and David who gave me the chance to ride in this great serie and of course to the rest of the Tyco Honda team, my personal sponsors, fanclub 100 and all the persons who supported me. For 2012 I hope to be back on the BSB grid.” [For more details and pictures see German version]

Red flags at a bad time
Although there wasn't another podium finish in Silverstone, Patric had a good weekend. After a solid qualifying result with 22th position (EVO 4th), he struggled in the first race to follow the pace due to grip problems on the rear tyre from the first lap on. After changing the setting, the grip was at the beginning of the second race much better, but worsened after a few laps rapidly. Neverthless he could close the gap to Barry Burrell from almost 5 seconds to a little bit more than 1 second in the lap before last, but didn't get the possibility to try to fight for the place on the podium, as the race was stopped due an engine blow up. "Of course the red flags in the second race came in a very bad moment, but that's racing. We made big improvements on the bike this weekend and we could close the gap to the leaders. I can't wait to go to Brands - a track without terrible long straights and of course, a track I already know." [For more details and pictures see German version]

Two more Top-5 positions
Patric struggled all weekend to close the gap to the leading EVO riders after he couldn't find a comfortable enough set-up. 25th position (EVO 9th) in the qualifying was a meagre yield. "You have mixed feelings for the race day after such a disappointing qualifying result. But my team helped me to get the bike as good as possible for the races and the two Top-5 finishes are a little compensation for the hard work we had. I know that I have to adopt my riding style for Silverstone - and hopefully close the current existing gap to fight for further podiums.".

Hard weekend in Cadwell Park
Round 9 in Cadwell Park was definitly a hard weekend for Patric Muff. Although the goal was to take as many points as possible at home, he was disappointed after three times 7th in the races. "It's not been a good weekend in terms of results and of course I'm disappointed, as it is the worst result so far this season. But I knew at the beginning of the season, that Cadwell would be the hardest track to learn in a very short time, so I have to look forward to the last three rounds and look for a good result in the championship.". From podium to a high flight
It was a mixed weekend for Patric Muff in Brands Hatch. After taking in difficult conditions with a third place his third podium in the season so far and a fourth place in the second race, he crashed in the third and last race after batteling for another podium. Although he regained the third place in the championship he lost some points to Barry Burrell, which is second in the championship. But there are another 4 rounds to go and lots of points to win.

The rain had everything under control
After two promising wet practices, where Patric Muff took 15th (3. Free Practice) and 13th (Warm up) overall place, he crashed after the start into Race 1 in the first corner. The second race had to be cancelled due the heavy rain and will take place in Cadwell Park. Muff said: 'Of course I'm very disappointed about my mistake in the first corner and loosing many points. In three weeks we'll be back in Brands Hatch and there I have only one aim: Gain back the lost points.'

Other important points scored
Patric Muff had another good weekend on the Quay Garage Tyco Honda when he finished fourth in the second BSB Evo race of the day at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk, the new-look ‘300’ circuit attracting a record weekend crowd of 43,000. Muff opened his account with a fifth place in race one but with his second race fourth has move back to fourth overall in the points chase and the half-way point in the 12-round championship. Muff’s second race effort also saw him finish 15th overall in the race against the fully-tuned superbikes on his Evo bike which, under the rules, does not have such a high state of engine tuning. Muff said: 'Of course I wanted to be on the podium again, but I was struggling with grip and I had no chance to follow the pace. But I'm fourth in the championship now and hope to score back in Oulton Park - on a track I know now - more important points.'

A hard fight
After a difficult qualifying and a 6th place in the first race, Patric Muff brought with a third place his second podium in the British Superbike EVO Championship home - after a hard fight with Barry Burrell and Glen Richards. "It was hard work with the crashes and the safety car in the second race but I am happy for Tyco Honda that we could be on the podium again and score some good points for the championship."

First BSB podium
Patric Muff secured his maiden podium finish in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship for the Tyco Security Products Honda team following an impressive ride at Thruxton. In very wet conditions, he got his first podium of the season in the opening race. With visibility a constant problem Patric who started in 27th on the grid worked his way through the field to finish in 15th but more importantly 3rd in the EVO class. In the second race with conditions worsening Patric was just of the podium again with a fourth in his class.

Ups and downs in Croft
Swiss rider Patric Muff had two small crashes on Saturday in practice but finished fourth and fifth in the BSB Evo class on Quay Garage Tyco Honda and remains third in the championship. Muff said: “I was disappointed to give my team so much work with the two crashes but everything came good on Sunday.”

Podium within reach
From Brands Hatch I drove directly to Oulton Park, where the second round of the season took place. At Friday evening I had the possibility to see the first time the track: a highspeed roller coaster with several blind curves. After a good first practice day on Saturday, I unfortunately had a crash in the third free practice session on Sunday morning. I was glad that the airfences done their work well and my Tyco Honda wasn’t too much damaged and I came away with a thick knee and probably an injury of my shoulder muscle. In the qualifying, which took place in the afternoon, I reached the 29. place (EVO 9.). On the race day my shoulder made more problems with riding then I thought it would. Neverthless we changed again something on the settings and I focussed me on the races. With two fourth places and the take over of the third place in the championship, the weekend took a good end and I’m already looking forward to go to Oulton Park again in the second half of the season. Thanks to the whole Tyco Honda Team which have done a great job. Yesterday I flew back to Switzerland where I spend the time before I go next week to Croft, where the next round will take place. Again an unknown track – so it will stay exciting…
